I have always been fairly active. I grew up playing sports, American football, baseball, softball. As I got older my focus turned away from organized sports to more recreational outdoors activities such as hiking and fishing and even trail bike riding (no mountains near where I live).

In the last 5 years or so I have been working out on and off. My cycle usually starts in February and lasts until October. Through those months I try to eat right, exercise 3-5 days a week. My weight will go from 213 to 190. By October the holidays arrive and I start eating poorly, stop exercising and in general just let myself go.

This year I decided to try the DirectLife program in hopes of breaking that cycle. So far it has worked. In the beginning of the program, I focused on just being more active. I became more aware of my activity and inactivity. I started exercising (walking at lunchtime for half an hour). I began to feel really good and as a result I increased my workouts now I walk for 20-30 minutes at lunchtime and I get on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes each afternoon. I log in to DirectLife twice a day to check my progress. It motivates me to stay active in order to reach my goals. With the help of Jen, my DirectLife coach, I am going to be successful in breaking that cycle.
